Evaluating behaviour evidence and providing feedback
With conventional assessment and development centres the evaluation of behaviour can often be one of the most difficult tasks. Assessors are sometimes left to debate the impact of behaviour without having actual hard evidence in front of them, apart from the written word and if the written evidence is taken out of context there could be a problem.
There is also the problem of how this behaviour has impacted on other centre participants and unless the assessor is exceptional individual then consequences are rarely captured.
What zell consulting does is record the behaviours using specialist software to allow the assessors to interactively view key aspects of performance. The assessors do this by selecting a category i.e. leadership or decision making and the software will provide all the recorded evidence of this. The software will also allow the assessor to access crucial statistical information on behaviour, for example how often the behaviour was demonstrated, what proportion of the time was that behaviour demonstrated and how that behaviour was weighted against the other behaviours shown.
The recorded behaviour can then be used as a very useful feedback mechanism. In the past when feedback has been provided after a centre, the participant usually feels the need to defend their behaviour and there have been many occasions when the participant has argued strongly that the feedback given has been unjustified and the recorded evidence was weak and inappropriate.
To overcome this a DVD will be produced with all the evidence captured recorded on it, which in turn can then be shown to the participant and it can be demonstrated how their behaviour impacted on the other participants and how their behaviour was captured. This then becomes a very powerful feed-back tool but must be used carefully. zell consulting will train you on how feedback can be completed in an objective way.
